Cindy Whitehead

oil paint on canvas, 24 X 24”, 2018

Cindy Whitehead has been pioneering women’s skateboarding since the young age of fifteen. In the 1970’s she was one of the top ranked skateboarders in vert and pushed skateboarding to whole new limits. Also at age fifteen she famously shredded Pepsi’s glass vert ramp and became the first female skateboarder to have a centerfold & 2-page article in skateboard magazine. In 2013, she started a girl-empowerment skate brand and movement called "Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word," which supports and gives back to women in action sports. She’s even written a 8X 10” hardcover book entitled, “It’s Not About Pretty” which depicts 65 female skateboarders ripping and shredding. She was inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2016. I truly believe there’s nothing Cindy can’t accomplish! I’ve been a big fan for a long time and can’t help but put my admiration of her to canvas.
